Obituary

GILBERT: The death of Wray Grant Gilbert, beloved husband of Jean occurred at the Foothills Hospital, Calgary on Monday, March 10, 2008. Prayers will be said at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Friday, March 14, 2008 at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, 327 4th Street, on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 2:00 pm. Celebrant will be Fr. Dominic Yuen. Interment will follow in the Brandon Cemetery. Donations in memory of Wray may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 3 - 824 18th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 5B7. GILBERT: Peacefully on March 10, 2008 at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, with his loving wife and daughters by his side, Wray Grant Gilbert passed away with dignity and grace. Remaining to forever cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Jean, and his daughters Kimberley Huebner (Randy) and Kristine Pelletier (Kevin). He will be lovingly remembered as well by his grandchildren Jonathan, Samantha and Barrett and numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his mother Louise Loughran, father John Gilbert and brother Jack Gilbert. Wray was born November 6, 1933 in Brantford, Ontario. He joined the Canadian Forces at the age of 17. Wray proudly served his country in the Korean War and as a United Nations Peacekeeper in Egypt and Cyprus. After 26 years of service including postings in Shilo, Germany, Petawawa, and Wainwright he retired from the Royal Canadian Ordinance Core in Brandon. Wray then went into business for himself forming Wray's Delivery Service, which he sold in 2003. He and his wife moved to Calgary in 2006 to be near his cherished grandchildren. Wray will be remembered for his love of his family, his enjoyment of travel and for being a sports enthusiast.
