Obituary

MOORE: Winnifred Eugena Moore of Brandon passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Monday, June 23, 2003. Eugena was born on February 10.1910 at Wolseley, SK, the eldest child of Ed and Lillie Scriver. She received her education in Saskatchewan and obtained her teacher training at Regina Normal School. Upon completion she returned to Wolseley to teach. Her father, being a founder of the C.C.F., set the trend for Eugena's political interests throughout her life. During WW II, she served with the Navy Signal Corps, where she met Ronald Moore in Ottawa and they were married in 1948. They moved to Manitoba in the early 1950's, where she taught school in Swan River and then later moved to Brandon in 1954. In 1960, Eugena began her career as the editor of the women's pages at the Brandon Sun. She is survived by her husband Ron; sister Virna Thompson of Cranbrook, BC; three nieces, Judy Thompson of Victoria, BC, Ronda Wood of Cranbrook, BC and Linda Spence of Regina, SK. Surviving also are three nephews, Lynn (Betty) Thompson of Salt Spring Island, BC, Stewart (Pat) Scriver of Toronto, ON and Stephen (Barbara) Scriver of Edmonton, AB; and sister-in-law Edith Scriver of Saskatoon, SK. Eugena was predeceased by her parents Ed and Lillie Scriver; brothers Harry and Rogers Scriver; and sister Dorothy Scriver. The Funeral Service will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, on Saturday, June 28, 2003 at 3:30 p.m. Vivian Drake will officiate.
