Obituary

ZAHARCHUK: It is with great sorrow the family announces the passing of William Zaharchuk, age 80 years, at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on June 25, 2002, following a short illness. Bill was born May 8, 1922 to Martin and Bernice Zaharchuk. He worked in North Vancouver, British Columbia for eight years. In 1959, Bill met Hazel (nee Smith) and in 1960, they were married. In 1968, they moved to Brandon where he worked at Canadian Steel Tank. In 1984, Bill began working at the Brandon Flying Club; retiring in 1988. He was interested in gardening, playing cards, and having coffee with the boys. They both enjoyed traveling to Toronto, Calgary and Winnipeg visiting with family. Bill is survived by his wife of 41 years, Hazel; brothers, Wally, Tommy, and Danny; sisters, Anne, Stella, Mary, Helen, June and Cecile. He was predeceased by his parents Martin and Bernice Zaharchuk; sisters, Irene, Gan, Rose Houssain; brothers, John and Peter. The funeral service was held Friday, June 28, 2002 at Memories Chapel with Father Victor Yakowchuk officiating. Cantor was Mr. Peter Romanik. Pallbearers were James Lane, Barry Lane, Peter Lane, James Duncan, Allan Wait, and Darryl Mathieson. Interment followed in the Brandon Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Bill may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 2B3.
