Obituary

WILSON: William "John" Wilson of Minto, Manitoba, formerly of Brandon, passed away peacefully at Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg on Friday, October 8th, 1999 after a long battle with heart disease. John was born March 6, 1942 in Brandon and attended Park and Earl Oxford Schools. He worked for the City of Brandon, P.A. Kennedy Co. Ltd, Phipps Jewellers and Manitoba Telephone System. John was a great sports car racing enthusiast and belonged to the Wheat City Sports Car Club. In the last few years he had pursued his interest in family history and had met several distant cousins as a result of this hobby. Left to mourn John's passing are his wife of 35 years, Eleanor; his loving mother, Marion of Brandon; brothers: David of Brandon, Donald (Gloria) and their family Jeff (Sophie) and Catherine of Ottawa, and Elgin of Toronto; and sister, June (Lorne) Thompson of Winnipeg. Also surviving are sister-in-law and brother-in-law Dorothy and Jim Tegg, Neepawa and their family Marie and Alan Giesbrecht of Calgary; Uncle Roddy McKay Sr. of Belmont; Aunt Dulcie McKay of Winnipeg; and many cousins from across the country. John was predeceased by his father Charles in 1967 and his mother-in-law Ada Blodgett in 1980.
A private graveside service has taken place at the Humesville Cemetery. A time of visiting and reception with family was held for family and friends on Wednesday, October 13, 1999 at Memories Chapel, Brandon. Friends and family who desire, may make a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 203 - 42 McTavish Ave. E., Brandon, MB, R7A 2B2 in John's memory.
