Obituary

Doug Spearin, beloved husband of Margery, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2002 at the Riverdale Health Centre in Rivers, Manitoba. Doug was born on his Grandfather's homestead, NE 17-13-20 on February 5, 1923. He farmed in the Pettapiece district all his life except during his time in the RCNVR. He attended the Little Saskatchewan and Rapid City Schools. Doug served on the council of the R.M. of Saskatchewan for several years and was also a member of the Rapid City Legion and the Corinthian Masonic Lodge, A.F. & A.M. Doug was predeceased by his parents, Howard M. Spearin, Edna Mildred (Reid) and brothers; Reid (wife Lillian), Kenneth and brother-in-law Tom Bradt. He leaves to mourn, his beloved wife Margery, sons, Jim, Howard (Cathy) and Glenn. A sister, Edith, brother, Cecil (Doreen) and several nieces and nephews also survive. The Ceremony to Celebrate Doug's Life will be held at the Rivers United Church on Wednesday, January 9, 2002 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Glenna Beauchamp will officiate. Interment will be in the Pettapiece Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson Foundation of Canada, Suite 232, 55 Bloor Street West, Toronto, ON, M4W 1A6, the Riverdale Hospital Fund, 512 Quebec Street, Rivers, MB, R0K 1X0 or to a charity of choice. The family wish to thank the doctors, nurses and all the staff at the Personal Care Home and the Riverdale Health Centre for their special care and kindness.
