Obituary

SCOTT: The death of William Arthur "Art" Scott, age 78 years, of Brandon and formerly of Douglas, occurred at his residence, Hillcrest Place on Monday, May 19, 2003. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Wednesday, (today) May 21, 2003 from 3:00 pm. to 5:00 pm. The Funeral Ceremony will be held at Memories Chapel on Thursday, May 22, 2003 at 2:00 pm. The Rev. John Nesbitt of Trinity United Church will officiate. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Art to a charity of choice. SCOTT: William Arthur "Art" Scott of Hillcrest Place, and formerly of Douglas, MB passed away on Monday, May 19, 2003. Art was born on October 3, 1924 at Katrime, MB, the fourth of seven children born to Kenneth and Lenore (Berry) Scott. He attended school at Pathhead School, north of MacGregor and Southend School, located south of MacGregor. Art spent his early years helping on the family farm. He married Merl Nancy Stirling of South End District and they moved to Alberta where he worked in Canmore and Edmonton. They returned to Manitoba in 1952 and resided in Douglas where Art worked at CFB Shilo for 37 years as a Civil Steam Engineer. Art was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous since 1977. His interests included auction sales, horse and car shows and the museum and rodeo at Austin. His most important times were spent with his family. Art is survived by: his five children, Robert Scott, Earl (Charlene) Scott, Jeanette (Tom) Renton, Jean (Paul) Marchand and Joan (Bob) Donogh; his former wife, Merl; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He also leaves to mourn his passing his sisters, Mildred Cairns of MacGregor, Marjorie Lee of Portage la Prairie, MB and Gertrude "Trudy" Lynch of Edmonton, AB; brother, Cliff (June) Scott of Red Deer, AB; sister-in-law, Marion Scott of Portage la Prairie and numerous nieces and nephews. Art was predeceased by: his father Kenneth, mother Lenore, infant son Orval, brothers Alex Scott and David Robert Scott, brothers-in-law Russell Cairns, Joe Lee and Willy Lynch. The Funeral Ceremony was held at Memories Chapel on Thursday, May 22, 2003 with Rev. John Nesbitt of Trinity United Church officiating. All attending the ceremony were considered Honorary Pallbearers. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Art to a charity of choice.
