Obituary

McDONALD: William Wallace "Wally" McDonald, of Saskatoon and formerly of Brandon, passed away peacefully in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on Thursday, March 31, 2005. Wally was born in Brandon on January 10, 1923, son of William and Katherine McDonald of the Mayne District, R.M. of Daly. He served in the RCMP in Saskatchewan for many years. The Ceremony to Remember Wally will be held at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North, on Thursday, April 7, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Laird Russell-Yearwood will officiate. McDONALD: William Wallace "Wally" McDonald, of Saskatoon and formerly of Brandon, passed away peacefully in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on Thursday, March 31, 2005 at the age of 82 years. Wally was born in the Mayne District of the Daly Municipality, 18 miles northwest of Brandon, on January 10, 1923. He was the fourth son of six boys born to William and Katherine McDonald. Wally received his education at the Mayne and Hunter Schools. Wally was an adventurer who left home early and found work in many fields. At the age of 18, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces and was wounded in France. After being discharged, Wally attended the University of Manitoba and then joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police where he was employed for 20 years. He then went to work for the Potash Company of America. Upon his retirement in 1987, Wally took time to travel. When he was home, he enjoyed socializing at the Legion and with the Elks. He also enjoyed sports as well as time with his family. Wally was predeceased by his parents, William (1961) and Katherine (1982); brothers, Glen (1970) and Angus (2005). He is survived by his son, Bill; grandchildren, Amanda (and friend Gregg), Peter and their mother Anita, all of Saskatoon, SK; brothers, Alex (Marg) of Calgary, Jack (Peggy) of Winnipeg, Lloyd (Eleanor) of Brandon; sisters-in-law, Bernice McDonald of Rivers and Marie McDonald of Brandon and numerous nieces and nephews. The Ceremony to Remember Wally was held at Memories Chapel on Thursday, April 7, 2005. Rev. Laird Russell-Yearwood officiated. The RCMP provided a Guard of Honour.
