MARTIN: Lorne Martin of Brandon, Manitoba passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. He is survived by his wife Betty and sons Scott and Bradley. The Funeral Ceremony will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, on Saturday, December 23, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined, donations in memory of Lorne may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society-Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 9Z9. MARTIN: William Lorne Martin passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, December 20, 2006. Lorne was born on the family farm in Nesbitt, Manitoba on August 29, 1931. He lived and worked on the farm and attended Riverbank School to Grade Nine and Nesbitt School for Grade Ten. Lorne moved to Brandon in 1958 after his marriage to Betty Ormiston. They had 2 children Scott in 1962 and Bradley in 1964. Lorne worked for the Department of Highways and Transportation in Minnedosa and Brandon offices. He began as an engineering aid, and retired in 1990 from his position of Administrative Officer. He belonged to the MGEA, and Good Sam RV Club. Lorne enjoyed sports. He was a player and coach for hockey and baseball and a baseball official. He took great pride in compiling rosters of teams he played with, coached, and watched with including his son's and grandchildren's teams. Lorne was an avid collector of coins, miniature cars and pins and loved building clocks and macrameing lawn chairs. He enjoyed traveling across Canada from coast to coast, and most of the Central and United States. He took great pleasure in gardening; his specialty was every variety of tomato he grew. Lorne will be lovingly remembered by his wife Betty (nee Ormiston); sons Scott (Lisa), children Tyler and Allie, and Bradley; brothers Bruce (Ruth), Donald (Margaret), Rex (Faye); sister Aggie Jean Wear (Fred), and sister-in-law Ruth. Lorne was predeceased by his parents Art and Edith Martin and brother Gordon Martin. The Funeral Ceremony was held at Memories Chapel on Saturday, December 23, 2006. Urn bearers were Allan and Sean Martin. Honorary Bearers were Kelly Martin, Ritchie Wear, Chris Martin, Warren and Jill Watt, Rod Tutkaluke, and Don Thomson. Interment followed at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined.
