Obituary

CLARK: It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved William Kenneth (Ken) Clark. Ken succumbed to debilitating ailments on the evening of May 4, 2009 with his family by his side. He was seventy-three years of age. Born and raised in Brandon, Ken loved hockey and swimming, and had a passion for music and song. He was an all-star defenseman, a certified lifeguard, and a member of a local trio. But above all, Ken was a loyal "south-ender" and a leader amongst his friends. Ken left his hometown to trade furs for the Hudson's Bay Company. Whenever he could, he spent time fishing, canoeing and flying in small planes. He went on to work for Swift Meats and North Star Oil, before settling down to become a bulk fuel distributor in Weyburn, Saskatchewan. After many years with Shell Oil, Ken ventured into business for himself. He owned and operated Grainland Rentals and Grainland Western Wear, where he designed his own line of western boots. In later years, he branched into work wear, toys and the furniture business before returning to Brandon to manage an apartment complex. Ken was a longtime member of the Weyburn Kinsmen and K-Forty Club. He also participated in the Chamber of Commerce and served on the Board of Directors for the local Credit Union. While in Weyburn, Ken fulfilled his dream of becoming a pilot and went on many memorable vacations with his family and friends. Ken is survived by his wife Donna; daughter Kim Sheppard (Lloyd Shurvell) of Carberry, Manitoba; sons; Randy (Christine) of Wolseley, Saskatchewan, and Robin (Lesley) of Regina; also brothers Ron (Kathy) of Brandon, Larry (Linda) of Winnipeg and Keith (Debbie) of Toronto. Ken was a proud grandpa to Morgan, Amanda, Rebecca and Krista; and great-grandpa to Summer and Star. Ken was predeceased by; his parents Phil and Hilda Clark, infant sister Donna Joyce, and faithful sidekick "Jock". The family would like to thank the staff of Fairview Home for the care given to Ken, and all those who visited him there. His smile will be missed by all. The Ceremony to Celebrate Ken's Life was held at Memories Chapel on Saturday, May 9, 2009 with Rev. John Dolloff officiating. Interment was in the Brandon Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
