Obituary

The death of William Wilfred "Bill" Bromley, late of Brandon and formerly of the R.M. of Daly, occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Friday, April 13, 2001. Bill was born in Brandon, Manitoba on June 26, 1906, son of James and Annie Bromley. He received his education at Powerville School. At an early age, Bill helped his father, driving horses and working on the home farm. His love of horses led him to show Clydesdales at many of the rural fairs throughout the years. As a young man, Bill enjoyed playing tennis. His musical abilities with the Cello, along with those of his six sisters, made the Bromley family popular at many local gatherings and social events. On November 13, 1935, Bill and Hazel Harrison of Holland, Manitoba were married. Together, they farmed in the R.M. of Daly for 75 years. During those years, Bill served as a councillor for the R.M. of Daly for twenty years. He was a Director with the Brandon Consumers Co-op and a school trustee for the Rural School District of Harrow. Bill also served on the Board of Directors of the Carnegie Pool Association. Bill and Hazel raised three children and in later years his greatest pride was to spend many happy hours with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He leaves to cherish his memory: son Barry and wife Irene, daughter, Karen and husband John Eckert and son Donald and wife Denise, ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. His brother, Clifford and wife Gretta Bromley also survive. Bill was predeceased by his wife Hazel, an infant son and by sisters, Mary, Muriel, Ida, Winnifred, Phyllis and Margaret. The Ceremony to Celebrate Bill's Life will be held at St. Mary's Anglican Church, First Street and Louise Avenue on Monday, April 16, 2001 at 11:00 am. The Rev. Garry MacDowall will officiate.
