The death of Wilhilemina (Willa) Jean (nee Laroque) Einarson occurred at the Assiniboine Centre on Monday, January 15, 2001. Willa was born on June 9th, 1932 to Maxim and Audrey (nee Davidson) Laroque. She was the youngest of 8 sisters. Willa's mother passed away in 1936 and the children were placed into foster home's as it was too difficult for their father to take care of all the children. Willa was placed in the home of Harvey and Grace Hurton. She stayed with the Hurton family in Carmen throughout her school years, finishing high school there. Willa worked at the Glenboro Hospital as a nurse's aide. This was how she met her future husband, Henry Einarson. They were married in the summer of 1954. Willa, who was a homemaker, enjoyed baking, reading, playing cards, and shuffleboard. She was president of the building association. Willa is survived by her daughter; Leanne (Scott) Marlow and grandson Braeden, sons; Craig (Susan) Einarson, David Einarson, grandchildren; Crystal, Erik and Cody, Brad Einarson, grandchildren Maddy and Leah, and granddaughter Belinda Squance. Willa was predeceased by her daughter; Roberta Lee at 19 years, and her former husband Henry Einarson at 73 years. The Memorial Service was held at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North, on Thursday, January 18, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. Honorary pallbearers were all in attendance. Interment will follow at a later date. Donations in memory of Willa may be made to the Familial GI Cancer Registry, Mount Sinai Hospital, #1157, 600 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario M5G 1X5. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
