Obituary

RUSSELL: The death of Wilfred Lloyd Russell, late of Brandon and formerly of Medora occurred in the city on Sunday, November 4, 2007. Lloyd was born at Storthoaks, Saskatchewan on May 5, 1924, son of Delbert and Lucy Russell. He received his early schooling at Dand, Manitoba. He became employed with the Canadian Pacific Railway and worked for over forty years as a section man and later foremen. Lloyd enjoyed hockey and baseball and coached his son on several teams in Medora. He enjoyed fishing, but his greatest love was for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lloyd leaves his daughter, Vicki (Ken) May and a son Ron (Sherri). Grandchildren: Shawne and Amron Russell, Carla Bloomer (Lyle Huber), Kristi Bloomer, Cory Bloomer, Jeffrey (Stacey) May. There are six great grandchildren. He also leaves a brother Harold (Isabel) Russell, sister, Bertha Heape and a sister-in-law, Verna Russell. Lloyd was predeceased by: his parents, wife Jean, brother Orville Russell; sisters, Lucy Hart and Doris Arthur, brothers-in-law Basil Arthur, Vernon Hart and Gerald Heape, as well as his stepmother, Lavina Galbraith. The ceremony to celebrate Lloyd's life will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Orton Anderson will officiate. A graveside service will follow at the Medora Cemetery, Medora, Manitoba at 4:00 pm. Pallbearers will be: Ken May, Ron Russell, Cory Bloomer and Lyle Huber. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Lloyd to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com.
