FABIAN: Wilfred Theodore Edward "Ted" Fabian passed away peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ at his residence, Dinsdale Personal Care Home on Wednesday, February 20, 2008. Ted was born on April 3, 1922 in Kolberg, Germany. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of sixty-three years "Babs"; his two sons Michael (Suzanne), and Anthony (Linda); grandchildren: Justin (Kim), Georgina (Bruce), Jeremy (Antoinette) and his seven great grandchildren who were his great delight. Ted was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Ted served in the Pioneer Corps, the Tank Corps and then the Intelligence Corps from 1940 - 1946 and from 1951 - 1953 in the Middle East. He married Audrey May Hirst "Babs" in 1945 and subsequently raised their two sons in England. Ted worked in a number of businesses in administration and management, including twelve years of service with the British Police Force. In 1978, Ted and Babs immigrated to Canada to join family, becoming Canadian citizens in 1981. He owned and operated "The Fabian Driver Training School" and coordinated the high school drivers education program. Ted was a great Brandon and area booster and the epitome of a volunteer, which was demonstrated by his level of involvement. Ted served for sixteen years as a councillor for the Elton Municipality. He was a founding member of the Brandon Aids Support Group, board member of the Westman Association for Terminal Care in Hospice (WATCH), the Brandon General Hospital board, Canadian Red Cross, Westman Choral Society, Seniors for Seniors, Brandon and District Planning Board, Rotary Clubs and M.A.D.D.. He also served on his church vestry board and many other support groups and committees. However, one of his proudest achievements was being the prime mover in the establishment of Brandon's first traffic circle. A Memorial Service to Celebrate Ted's Life will be held at the Brandon Vineyard Community Church, 1327 Rosser Avenue, on Saturday March 1, 2008 at 2:00 pm. Friends who so desire, may make a memorial donation in Ted's memory to the Dinsdale Personal Care Home Donations Fund, 510-6th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 3N9. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com. Arrangements are with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
