Obituary

CULBERTSON: Wesley Rutledge "Wes" Culbertson, beloved husband of Gail passed away peacefully at his residence in Brandon on Saturday, December 30, 2006. Wes was born in Brandon on September 24, 1921, one of nine children born to John and Sophia Culbertson. He received his education at Fleming and Earl Oxford Schools. Wes later joined the Army, serving overseas with the Royal Canadian Infantry, Winnipeg Rifles. After the war, he returned to Brandon and was a driver with Perths Cleaners. He later worked as an auto mechanic with Brandon Automobiles and later with Fowlers. Even after he "officially retired", Wes drove a truck for Ballingall Trucking. Wes and Gail Fisher were married in Brandon on January 23, 1965. Wes enjoyed travelling, fishing, camping and the family times spent at their cabin at Sandy Lake. He leaves his beloved wife, Gail and children: Ian Culbertson, Susan (Robert) Horwood, James (Leticia) Culbertson. He also leaves his grandchildren, Darin Culbertson, Tanya Culbertson, Jasmine Horwood, Sofia Culbertson and Sonja Culbertson. Wes is also survived by: his brother, Robert (Agnes) Culbertson and sisters, Lillian (Art) Westbury, June (Garth) Cumming and Maybel Clark. There are numerous nieces and nephews. Wes was predeceased by: three brothers, John, Joseph and Oswald; by a sister, Ethel Morton and by two brothers-in-law, John Clark and Wes Morton. The Ceremony to Celebrate Wes's Life will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Friday, January 5, 2007 at 2:30 pm. Arlene Robertson of First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will follow at the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends may make a donation in memory of Wes to the charity of their choice.
