ZACHANOWICH: It is with sadness we announce the passing of Walter Zachanowich of Rideau Park Personal Care Home, formerly of Wawanesa, Manitoba on August 14, 2006 at the age of 84 years. Walter was born July 28, 1922 in Parydudy, Poland. The family immigrated to Canada in 1930 and settled in Bowsman, Manitoba. They farmed for 10 years then moved to Dugald, Manitoba in 1940. Walter then met and married Teena Kereliuk on July 14, 1945 and continued farming in that area until 1949. Walter and Teena and their two young children then moved to Wawanesa and continued farming and had 3 more children on a prosperous farm until he retired in 1978. Walter spent his last 6 years as a resident of Rideau Park Personal Care Home. Walter is predeceased by his parents William and Elsie and three brothers Mike, Nick, and Peter. He is survived by his wife Teena of 61 years; children Jean (Gary), Donald (Laurie), Violet (Mervin), Nancy (Clark), and Marlene (Gary); nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. The Memorial Service was held at Memories Chapel on Friday, August 18, 2006. Rev. Shannon McCarthy of Central United Church officiated. Interment followed at the Wawanesa Cemetery.
