KASCHOR: Walter "Wally" Kaschor Sr. passed away in Brandon, Manitoba on Saturday, October 28, 2006 to be reunited with his beloved wife, Cecelia, who predeceased him in June 2000. Wally was born on October 15, 1925 in Brandon, Manitoba the son of Joseph and Leona Kaschor. He served during WW II in the Navy on the HMCS Lanark, returning to his beautiful north end until his passing. His love of church and family sustained him all of his life. Wally served as Cantor as did his father, Joseph, for many years and was a lifetime member of the men's club and choir. As a mechanic and salesman he worked for McGavin's Bakery, Canadian Motors and Binkley Motors until his retirement. Some may remember him in the north end as NIP Co-ordinator, a position he felt honoured to have. Whether as Master Angler or Master of Ceremonies, Wally gently maneuvered boat and fishing rod and the gift of speech with spirit, humour and great care. As a sports enthusiast, he could be found enjoying the 10 pin lanes, the arena as a Wheat King fan, or the big screen tv, watching his beloved Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. Wally will be lovingly remembered by: his three children, Vickie Lee Kaschor, Marcia (Don) Stadnyk and Wally (Joan) Kaschor; grandchildren, Andrew, JoVi (Cameron Northwood), Jason, Carlyne (Chad Stevens), Anthony, Kimberley (Bruno Mancusi) and Heather (Shea Stewart); great grandchildren, Nicholas, Hannah, Iliyana, and Shae-lynne. He also leaves to mourn his passing: sisters, Anita Niccore of Detroit, MI, Marian Sebastian, of Windsor, ON and June Tassey of Leamington, ON and their extended families. A unique father, grandfather, great grandfather and loyal friend his great shoulders carried us gently forward with love and understanding without judgement. Prayers were said at Memories Chapel on Wednesday, November 1, 2006. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 927 Assiniboine Avenue, on Thursday, November 2, 2006 at 10:00 am. Celebrant will be Father Ernest Hafichuk. Cantor will be Mr. Tony Yuriy. Soloist is granddaughter Kim Kaschor, organist, Diane Grambo with grandson, Jason Kaschor sharing the eulogy. An honor guard from the Canadian Ukrainian Men's Club was in attendance. Pallbearers will be: grandson, Andrew Gelder, Shea Stewart, Joe Kay, Ken Heide, Don Johnson, and Vern Schneider. A private interment will be held in the Brandon Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.
