It is with great sorrow that the family of Walter Byczkowski announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather on Wednesday, November 14, 2001. Walter was born on March 30, 1925 in Poland. He immigrated to Canada following the second world war. Walter was employed with the City of Brandon. He remained with the City until his retirement, following thirty years of service. Walter married Martha Stadnyk in 1953. He was pre-deceased by Martha in 1982. Walter was also pre-deceased by his great grandson, Adam in 1996. In 1988 Dad married his present wife, Agnes. Walter enjoyed many treasures in his lifetime, including his garden, curling, fishing and especially his family, whom he deeply treasured. Mourning his death are his loving wife, Agnes, his children: Marilyn (Lance) McCormick; Terry (Carma) Byczkowski; Jim (Kim) Byczkowski; Teresa (Ernie) Janzen; and Tracy (Dan) Bryant; all of Brandon; and Patricia (Kelvin) Siemens of Kola, Manitoba. Walter is also survived by 12 grandchildren and three great granddaughters as well as his brother, Felix of England; his mother-in-law, Lena Stadnyk, and numerous other relatives. Prayers will be said at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North on Friday, November 16, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Hedwig's Roman Catholic Church, 223 - 11th Street, on Saturday, November 17, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Anthony Korewa. Pallbearers will be his son, Jim Byczkowski, sons-in-law, Ernie Janzen, Dan Bryant, Lance McCormick and Kelvin Siemens, and grandson, Jeremy Byczkowski. Interment will follow in the Brandon Cemetery. Donations in memory of Walter may be made to Brandon Regional Health Authority - Home Care, 150A - 7th Street, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 7M2.
