ABRAHAMSON: Walter Clifford Abrahamson, of Brandon, Manitoba, formerly of Creighton, Saskatchewan, passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on September 22, 2008. Walter was born to Karin and Erik Abrahamson at the Abrahamson family farm in Preeceville, Saskatchewan on December 2, 1917. He attended Beaver Bluff School in Preeceville. Walter was an army veteran, Fireman in Regina, Diamond Driller and Hoistman at HBM and S in Flin Flon, Manitoba for 30 plus years, and a Raleigh Salesman. He was a member of the Creighton town council, Flin Flon Legion member, and Creighton Seniors. His first two loves were playing horseshoes and dancing. A regular pastime was playing cards. Walter especially enjoyed challenging new acquaintances with his word and number games. He loved to follow his son's and grandsons' hockey exploits. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping & traveling with Anna. Walter is survived by: his wife Anna (nee Hortness) Abrahamson of 64 plus years; a sister Elsie (Abrahamson) Gray; his daughters Sharon Monaghan, and Janice Carriere and son Douglas Abrahamson (Heather). Grandchildren: Kevin Monaghan (Kim), Kerri Huculak (Wayne), Kellie Hagan (Clarke), Colin Carriere (Tisha), Shannon Lamb, Douglas Abrahamson, Andrea LalibertT (Dan), and Daniel Abrahamson; eleven great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by: parents Karin & Erik Abrahamson; brothers Clarence, Albert, Eddie, Harold, Otto, Einar; sisters Hattie, Helen and his son-in-law Kent Monaghan. Walter had a strong sense of family and it was his guiding force. In keeping with Walter's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family gathering was held.
