Obituary

Wallace John "Wally" McKenzie of Suite 2-1915 Richmond Avenue, passed away at the Assiniboine Centre, Brandon, Manitoba, on June 28, 2000. Wally was born at Harding, Manitoba on May 18, 1915, the eldest son of Gordon and Clara McKenzie. He took his early schooling at Harding School. Wally lived on the farm at Harding until 1946, when he moved to Brandon. In Brandon, Wally worked at Canada Grocers until his retirement. In his earlier years, he enjoyed curling and later became an ardent fan. Wally is survived by his sisters; Irene Kerr of Winnipeg, Edith (Frank) Pierce and Alma Yule of Brandon. There are numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers; Lawrence, Earl, sisters; Mabel and Olive, brothers-in-law; Jim Kerr, Merle Yule and sister-in-law, Irene McKenzie.The ceremony to celebrate Wally's life was held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, on Tuesday (today), July 4, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Gordon Stevenson of Central United Church officiated. All attending the ceremony were considered honorary pallbearers. Interment followed at the Greenwood Cemetery, Harding, Manitoba. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Wally to the Canadian Cancer Society, 415-1st Street, Brandon, Manitoba. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
