Obituary

Virginia Irene McLachlan (nee Lockhart) passed away peacefully on Monday, September 24, 2001, surrounded by her loving children. Virginia devoted her life to her children and her husband. She worked hard her entire life and made the kind of home for her family that most people only dream of. Virginia was not only mother but confidant, friend, mentor and a person who was always there, not only for her family but for friends as well. She will always be remembered for her unbiased love and support, lovely smile that lit up her eyes, Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Sunday Dinners and pies. After her husband passed away she had the opportunity to travel, visiting Florida, Hawaii, Arizona, Banff, Jasper, Radium, Edmonton and Calgary. Virginia will be missed by the many people who knew her while she was doing her daily activities, who enjoyed her winning smile and warm personality as well as the ability to chat with them (Safeway personnel, pet store, bank, veterinarian, and the people she dealt with on a daily or weekly basis). Mother was an inspiration and source of strength, not only to her family but to all that were fortunate enough to make her acquaintance. She placed her family's feelings ahead of her own. Virginia is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her children, Beatrice (Bob) Warnett; Joan (Bob) Rodgers; Jim (Julie) McLachlan; Roy (Lorraine) McLachlan; Ray (Shannon) McLachlan; David (Noreen) McLachlan; and Gord (Cathy) McLachlan; grandchildren, Virginia Goebel, Robbie Warnett, Gordie Warnett, Christian Warnett, Robert Rodgers, Virginia Rodgers, Christopher McLachlan, Jennifer McLachlan, Jared McLachlan, Charlene McLachlan, Jill McLachlan, Clinton McLachlan, Samantha McLachlan and Daniel McLachlan; great grandchildren, Crystal Goebel, Clayton Goebel, Amanda Warnett, Alyssa Warnett, Gwendolyn McLachlan, Jeremy McLachlan, and Hanako Rodgers. She is also survived by her brothers, Lawrence and Harvey; sisters, Bernice Hoy and Kathleen Bridger; and pet dog Dusty. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Ada Lockhart; her husband, John Daniel; brothers, Frank, Clifford, Raymond, Donald, Dorland, Gordon and Wilfred; and sisters, Margaret and Katherine. The Graveside Service will be held at the Brandon Cemetery on Thursday, September 27, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Don Hudson of Knox United Church officiating. Arrangements are with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.

Peace is a hidden babbling brook,
The Solitude at night.
Peace is a floating moonlit cloud,
A soaring bird in flight.
Peace is the rainbow after rain,
A Mother's look of love.
In her soothing embrace she holds this family together,
Guiding us with her subtle wisdom and the gentle voice of diplomacy.
A Mother's love is forever. Memorials
