Obituary

JOHNSTON: The death of Violet Fay Johnston of Brandon occurred Friday, November 19, 2004 at the Assiniboine Centre. Ceremony to Celebrate Violet's Life will be held at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North, on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Craig Gibbs will officiate. Interment will take place in the Brandon Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donation in memory of Violet may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation (A Bed for You, A Bed for Me Campaign), 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 2B3 or charity of choice. JOHNSTON: Violet Fay Johnston (Massina) passed away peacefully
with her family by her side at the Assiniboine Centre on November
19, 2004 at the age of 66. Violet was born in Brandon, Manitoba on March 9,
1938 to Reginald and Gladys Massina. Violet took her schooling in Brandon.
After attending school she had various jobs until she met and married Ronald
Johnston on December 5, 1959. Her most important job of all was becoming a
"Mom". Violet leaves to celebrate her life, her children, Sharon Massina
(Tom), children Clayton and Jackie Bage, Barry (Maureen), son Avery, David
(Linda), children Holly and Dilan Johnston, Kim (Brent) Macsymach and Dana
(Jeff), children Mackenzie and Cassandra Ganter. Also left to celebrate her
life is her brother Reginald (Phyllis) Massina and family and a sister
Jessie (Bill) Roberts and family and a special niece Faye (Glen) Cameron and
family. Violet was predeceased by Ron in 2002, by her parents Reginald and
Gladys in 1987, sister Shirley in 1985, brother Jerry in 1971 and brother
Leonard in 2002. Violet enjoyed knitting, listening to music and baking.
Violet was known for the "best" buttertarts, shortbread and homemade soup.
Violet devoted her life to her family and her greatest
love of all, her grandchildren. A Celebration of Violet's life
was held on November 23, 2004 at Memories Chapel in Brandon, Manitoba with
Pastor Craig Gibbs officiating. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery.
