Obituary

The death of Violet "Vi" Hawitt, widow of the late Stan Hawitt, occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Monday, June 23, 2003. The Ceremony to Celebrate Vi's Life will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Friday, June 27, 2003 at 1:30 pm. Capt. Garry Keeping of the Salvation Army will officiate. Interment will follow in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Vi to the Salvation Army, 9 Princess Avenue E. HAWITT: The death of Violet Jane (Vi) nee Satterthwaite occurred at Brandon Regional Health Centre on Monday, June 23, 2003 at 88 years of age. Vi was born in Miniota, Manitoba October 10, 1914, the second eldest of six children born to Roger and Annie Satterthwaite. She attended Alexander & Earl Oxford School. In 1936, Vi married the love of her life, Stan Hawitt and together they raised two children Joan and Tom. Vi was a lifetime member of the Salvation Army and the Ladies Home League. She was employed with the Brandon Mental Health Centre, Dietary Services until retirement in 1995. Vi spent many summers at Clear Lake with family and friends. After retirement she traveled to England, California, Hawaii, and Florida. She is survived by son Tom (Carol) and grandchildren Trent, Carmelle Hawitt of Brandon, Heather Marcin (Peter Buckley) and great-granddaughter Piper J, all of Calgary. She also leaves a son-in-law Stan Marcin. Vi was predeceased by her husband Stan in 1962 and daughter Joan in 1984. She was also predeceased by: sisters and brothers, Edith and Helen, Jack, Wilson, and Tom. The ceremony to Celebrate Vi's Life was held at Memories Chapel, Friday, June 27, 2003 with Captain Garry and Dora Keeping officiating. Pallbearers were Byron Forsyth, Trent Hawitt, Peter Buckley, and Jeremy Perzan. Interment followed in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined.
