Obituary

MALEY: Viola B. Maley, widow of Orville, passed away at her residence, Fairview Home on Sunday, September 2, 2012. Born at Hythe, Kent, England on February 11, 1919, Viola was the daughter of Bertha Turner and Charles Ray Street. The family moved to Canada September 10, 1919. After the loss of her mother in 1931, her father remarried Lyla Lundy and they raised four children. The family resided in various points in Manitoba including Hamiota, Grandview and Brandon. Viola received her education in Grandview and Brandon. She met Orville Maley and they were married September 23, 1940. Viola was employed at T. Eaton Company. While working at the Brandon Mental Hospital, Viola enrolled in courses at Brandon College and later found employment at C.O.R. Enterprises and worked there until retirement. Her hobbies and interests were dancing, skating, cross country skiing, fishing and enjoyed spending her winters in Mesa, Arizona. In later years, Viola enjoyed painting and became an accomplished artist. She lived in Brandon most of her life and moved to Onanole to retire. Viola is survived by her sons Bill (Pat), Doug (Donna); daughters, Joyce (Lance) Lidster, Linda Moore, eight grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Sibings; June Draper, Joyce Clawson (Art), Shirley Pitman and Jack Street also survive. She was predeceased by her husband Orville, and sisters Helen and Sheila. The Funeral Service was held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Saturday, September 15, 2012. The Rev. John Dolloff of St. Mary's Anglican Church officiated. Interment took place at the Brandon Cemetery.
