FRIESTAD: Verna Marie (Stelmack) Friestad passed away in Brandon on Wednesday, June 6, 2007. Verna was born in Brandon, Manitoba on August 21, 1956. She was raised on a farm at Rapid City, Manitoba. She then moved to Brandon and started raising her first three children. At age 29, Verna married Mark Friestad and moved to Leeds, North Dakota. Verna returned to Canada to live in Souris and then Brandon from 1998 and on, raising her last two children. Verna loved people. She had such a talent of being so good with people especially as a home care worker. She was very musical - playing the accordion, piano, and guitar and dancing. She will be deeply missed by her children: Trevor (Christina), April, Angie, Melissa and Sarah; grandchildren Alex and Dyllan; siblings Pat Stelmack, Joyce Wiltsey, Ron Stelmack and Diane Stilborn; mother Gladys Stelmack. She also leaves partner Terry Teetaert. Verna was predeceased by her father, Walter Stelmack. The Ceremony to Celebrate Verna's Life will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Saturday, June 30, 2007 at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in the Brandon Cemetery.
