ELLAMS: Verna May Ellams, loving mother of Carol Hanson and Jim 'Tree' Ellams, passed away at her residence, Fairview Home, on Sunday, October 17, 2004. The Funeral Ceremony will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, on Thursday, October 21, 2004 at 1:30 pm. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Verna to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba Westman Region, 437 9th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 4A9 or to the Canadian Diabetes Association Westman Region, B - 727 10th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 4G7. ELLAMS: Verna May Ellams passed away peacefully with her daughter at her side on Sunday, October 17, 2004 at Fairview Home, Brandon. She was born on June 22, 1917 at Lombard, B.C. and came with her family to Hayfield, Manitoba on October 31, 1931. She moved to Brandon in 1937 and married Edward ?die?Morris Ellams on November 10, 1938. She worked at Eatons in the 50? and 60? and was the first manager of the Eatons coffee bar when it was built on the lower level. It was there that she met Charlie Couling and they were best friends and companions until his passing in February 1983. She leaves: one daughter Carol (Neil) Hanson of Brandon and one son, James ?ee?Ellams of Winnipeg; four grandchildren: Corinne (Jim) Teetaert and their children; Jamie and Amie; Irene (Kim) Facet; Ron (Jill O?eill) Hanson and his daughter Caitlin of Winnipeg; Stefan Ellams of White Rock and Whistler, B.C. Also surviving are two sisters: Elva Pratt of Abbottsford, B.C. and Lois (Clayton) Thorne of 100 Mile House, B.C. and many nieces and nephews. Verna was predeceased by her parents; her husband Eddie, November 22, 1950; Charlie Couling, February 1983; brother Lyle (Margaret) Reid of Vancouver, B.C.; sisters Laura (Tom) Wilson of White Rock, B.C. and Rena (Cliff) Wilkinson of Abbottsford, B.C. and brother-in-law Frank Pratt of Abbotsford, B.C. The Funeral Ceremony will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, on Thursday, October 21, 2004 at 1:30 pm. Rev. Laird Russell-Yearwood of Central United Church will officiate. Private interment will follow in the family plot at the Brandon Cemetery.
