BLACK: The death of Valerie Jean Black of Brandon occurred in the city on Saturday, November 3, 2012. Valerie was born March 18, 1947, in Newton, B.C, to Archie and Jean Gillespie and raised in Flin Flon, Manitoba. Following training in the medical services, she was employed at the Brandon Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse for thirty-five years. She is survived by her two children, Jennifer Black and David Black. She also leaves one granddaughter, Allison. Valerie was predeceased by her parents, Archie and Jean and by a brother, Donald Gillespie. No funeral service will be held. Interment of her cremated remains will be in the family plot in Melfort Cemetery, Melfort, Saskatchewan at a later date.
