Tyler Jonathon Rice
June 4, 1973 - March 9, 2026
It is with broken hearts that we share the sudden passing of Tyler Jonathon Rice, on March 9, 2026, in Lake Country, BC, at the age of 52.
Tyler was born on June 4, 1973, in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Tyler is survived by his wife Nicole; daughters Madelyne (Kevin and grandson Clarke), Callie, Leighton and Brynn; Mother Dorothy; brother Brad (Marnie) and their children Mac, Dasha and Morgan; in-laws Ash and Terry; sister-in-law Jenn (Doug); half siblings Jeff (Shelby), Pam and sister-in-law Carolin and their families. He is survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins who he cherished spending time with throughout his life. He was predeceased by his father Tom and half-brother Jack.
Tyler was a devoted dad, proud grampa, and someone who truly lived for time spent with the people he loved. He was his girls’ biggest fan; always on the sidelines cheering them on, celebrating every win, and supporting them through every challenge. He rarely missed a game and was known for filming everything, always ready with highlights and call reviews.
Tyler had a lifelong love of hockey and golf. He was a proud Hound, attending high school and playing junior hockey at Athol Murray College of Notre Dame in Saskatchewan, where he built friendships that lasted a lifetime. One of his proudest accomplishments was being part of a Division I NCAA championship hockey team at the University of North Dakota.
He was overjoyed to recently become a grampa and couldn’t wait to teach Clarke how to play hockey and golf.
Tyler enjoyed spending time at the lake, hosting family and friends for boat days, BBQ's in the back yard, and early morning golf or evening chip and putt. He also loved quadding in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter with family and friends. He was very proud of the Rice Plex rink, hosting team parties and Christmas/New Years tournaments with close friends.
In his work, Tyler built a respected career in real estate development, property management, and construction. He had a sharp eye to see potential and a unique ability to envision the future of land and property with creativity and precision.
Tyler rarely met someone new without discovering a shared connection—whether through school, sports, business, or family. He loved to chat, tell stories, and bring people together, always making others feel welcome. Tyler was a passionate person who lived fully, and loved deeply.
