ROBERTS: Trevor Roberts passed away at the Souris Health Centre on November 26, 2004, with his loving family by his side. His death marked the end of a short, courageous and well-fought battle against cancer. Trevor was born at Croll, MB on March 25, 1939. He was the second child of Florence and Evan Roberts. He lived at Croll and the Riverside District until 1944, when the family moved to the Rounthwaite area. Trevor received his education at East Brandon, Alexander, Earl Haig, Rounthwaite and Nesbitt schools. After his education, he farmed with his family in Rounthwaite. He married Valerie Howlett of Brandon on October 3, 1964. They lived in Brandon for 7 months, and then moved to the Hebron District in Glenwood Municipality. In 1966, they moved to the Fenwick farm where they have made their home. Trevor was a farmer, through and through. He loved and respected the land, and treated it well. One of his greatest pleasures was to spend the day in the tractor, whether it was seeding, fertilizing, swathing or combining. He often said he found his work comforting and rewarding. He believed in learning from your mistakes, so you didn't make the same mistake twice. His greatest sense of accomplishment probably came from the fact that all three of his sons followed in his footsteps, making their living from the land as well. Trevor enjoyed a simple life, being very down-to-earth in his ways. He did not live extravagantly; he worked all his life to provide a better life for his wife and children. He and his wife enjoyed their home and their families. Trevor is survived by his wife, Valerie (Howlett), sons Mark (Tracy), Vance (Cheryl) and Sean, and his cherished grandchildren, Brendan, Kendra, Landon and Nolan. He is also survived by brothers Barry (Carol) and Owen (Deb) of Rounthwaite, and sister Lynda Sclater (Tom) of Waskada, and their children. Also surviving is sisters-in-law Beth Howlett of Toronto, ON and Sharon Granger (Bill) and their boys, of Nesbitt. Trevor is predeceased by his parents, Evan and Florence Roberts of Rounthwaite. Pallbearers: Darwyn and Robbie Roberts, Marty and Dana Roberts, Jason and Bryce Granger, all nephews of Trevor. Honorary pallbearers were Trevor's nieces, Elena and Ashley Roberts, and Bryna Sclater. Interment was at the Brandon Cemetery on November 30, 2004. Donations can be made to the Souris Health Centre, Palliative Care or Special Equipment fund, Box 10, Souris, MB R0K 2C0.
