Obituary

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Lloyd (Tom) Sherb at the Brandon
Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. Tom was born in Brandon, Manitoba, the
eldest son of Lloyd and Thelma (nee Lounsbury) Sherb, on April 7, 1946.

Tom was a proud Firefighter with the Brandon Fire and Emergency Services from June 1, 1967,
until his retirement on June 30, 2001. While there he took pride in restoring a vintage 1929
Bickle fire engine, which is on display at the No. 1 Firehall. Being the busy person he was, he
could not fully retire and worked at Murray's Fire Extinguisher for several years. In his spare
time, he was a talented woodworker who made furniture and decorations for family and
friends. He especially enjoyed repairing cars and could pretty much fix anything that needed
fixing. He was an avid golfer for most of his life and would often enjoy playing a few rounds
with friends and family. He could usually be found enjoying lunch with Jeanette at Mums
restaurant. Tom was always there to help out a friend, family member or even a complete
stranger.

Tom will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jeanette (nee Fidler) Sherb, and children Rhonda
(Perry) Sherb-Gillam, Kimberly (Henry) Verner and Shawna (Stacy) Sherb-Jones; grandchildren
Danielle (Brandon) Gillam Fiedler, Brooklyn Gillam, Declen Verner and Teagan Verner. He is also
mourned by brothers Jim (Paulette) Sherb and Doug (Sherrell) Sherb, and sister Joy (Darren)
Naundorf. Tom was predeceased by his parents Lloyd and Thelma Sherb. He also dearly loved
several dogs during his lifetime, so much so, that his pacemaker is being donated to help a dog
in need.

The ceremony to celebrate Tom's life will be held on April 11 at 1pm at Memories Chapel, 330 –
18th Street North in Brandon. A private, family only, interment will be held at Rosewood
Memorial Gardens. A reception to trade stories, visit and celebrate Tom's life will be held following the service at Monterey Estates Community Centre at 40 Mockingbird Drive.

In lieu of flowers, donations, in memory of Tom, can be made to the Heart and Stroke
