Obituary

GILLESPIE: The death of Thomas Maxwell "Mac" Gillespie, age 79 years, occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Saturday, October 3, 2015. Born April 25, 1936 in Brandon, Mac attended school in Douglas and Brandon. He was passionate about cars, especially antique cars, motorcycles, and flying. In his spare time, Mac would restore old vehicles, which he enjoyed driving in the Traveller's Day Parade. His love for cars lead him to a career as a sales consultant, for 44 years, with Brandon Automobiles and Fowler's. A familiar face to customers, Mac drove the shuttle van for Fowler's until June 2015 and was accoladed many times for his sales achievements. His passion for flying lead him to attaining his pilot's license. An avid sports fan, Mac loved hockey, baseball and curling. He also enjoyed watching Saturday morning cartoons. Anyone who knew Mac, knew he was famous for his jokes and storytelling with punch lines. When not restoring vehicles or working, Mac could be found along the sidelines cheering on his grandson Cole in hockey and granddaughter Kiara in soccer. Remaining to cherish Mac's memory are his daughters, Susan DeLuca (Frank), Lori Melsted (Darrell); grandchildren, Cole Fraser, Kiara DeLuca; sisters Meryl McKeand, Iowne Stephenson, Betty Goddard; special friend Marcia Howse and her son Grant Howse (Tracey). He was predeceased by his father Thomas Carl Gillespie, mother Eura Gillespie and sister Elva Jackson. The Ceremony to Celebrate Mac's Life took place at Memories Chapel on Thursday, October 8, 2015 with Chaplain Mike Waddell officiating. Urn bearers were grandchildren Cole Fraser and Kiara DeLuca. A reception followed at Memories Chapel. Interment took place at Madford Cemetery. Special thanks to the 4th floor nurses and aides at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Mac may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation - Palliative Care, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB R7A 2B3.
