Obituary

PACHAL: It is with great sadness that the family of Ted Pachal announces his passing on Sunday, June 24, 2007 at the Assiniboine Centre in Brandon, with his family by his side. Ted was born at Kipling, Saskatchewan on September 6, 1924. He farmed with his parents until leaving for University in 1943. After graduating from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in Agriculture in 1946, Ted moved to Brandon, Manitoba and settled in the Roseland District. He married Lucy Scott of Forrest, Manitoba on November 8, 1950. Together they farmed in the Roseland district, retiring in 1984. They moved into Brandon in 1999. Ted learned carpentry and worked for many years with Parkdale Builders. Later starting T & L Carpentry, Ted's reputation for attention to detail became well known. Over the years he belonged to many organizations including UGG, Camroc, Redeemer Lutheran Church, Brandon Horticultural Society, Manitoba Agricultural Museum at Austin, Manitoba, and was especially proud of his 35 year membership in the Brandon Chapter of the S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. Ted enjoyed many activities; he played ball in his younger years and curled for many years; he watched hockey on TV and golfed a bit. He and Lucy spent many happy hours in campgrounds in their camper. Ted and Lucy were members and took their turn being Presidents of the Wheat City Chapter of the Good Sam RV Club. He always enjoyed activities with his family and friends, and a visit from his great grandson really brightened his day. Ted was predeceased by his parents Charlie and Elizabeth (Zaiser) Pachal; parents-in-law George and Eunice Scott. He is survived by his wife and best friend Lucy; son Doug (Myrna); daughters Kathie (Don) Nelson, Bev (Dave) Drummond, and Karen (Doug) Buckman; grandchildren Taryn Pachal, Karleen (Mike) Thomas, Lisa Nelson (fianc?? Kevin Pearn), Christopher and Breanne Drummond, Ethan and Allyson Buckman; two great grandchildren Jackson Thomas and Brooklen Thomas. Also surviving is his only brother Frank (Margaret) Pachal of Calgary and their daughters Dianne, Brenda, Carol, Sharon and their families; in-laws Bill Scott, Art (Pat) Scott, Lila (Dennis) Baker and numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Ceremony was held at Memories Chapel on Thursday June 28, 2007. Pastor Ted Jannuska of Redeemer Lutheran Church officiated. Interment followed in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Ted to the Canadian Diabetes Association, B - 727 - 10th Street, Brandon, Manitoba , R7A 4G7 or to a charity of choice.
