It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Susan Veronika Sutter, a woman who loved and cherished her family deeply, especially her late husband, Ron Brodie, and her two sons, Alexander (Jillian) and Marcus.
Susan passed in the Brandon Hospital surrounded by friends and family after putting up a fierce battle following an illness.
Susan was born in Toronto to Swiss parents, Willi and Dolly. She grew up in the city, eventually taking a job at Coca-Cola which took her to places far and wide. Ultimately, her heart led her to rural Manitoba where she created a beautiful life with her beloved husband, Ron Brodie. They welcomed two sons and built a community of friends and family.
Susan was a trailblazer who seized every opportunity that came her way. Cooking and gatherings were her love language. You’d always find mom in the kitchen, cooking her world-famous perogies. It didn’t matter if you were a long-term friend or a complete stranger, there was always a plate at her table for you.
She was deeply passionate about her work in health care accessibility. Specifically, building meaningful connections with her co-workers, clients, and peers. She truly loved what she did, and it was far more than just a job to her. Mom took her passion beyond the workplace, being heavily involved in the Cerebral Palsy Bike Race, as well as serving on the board of Brandon Wheelchair Sports and Leisure.
We will always love you, Mom. We hope that wherever you are, Dad is with you, spending time in a tent on a trampoline under the stars.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date yet to be determined.
Memorial Donations may be made in Susan Sutter’s name to The Cerebral Palsy Association of Manitoba.
