Stanley Earl Mitchell of Justice, Manitoba passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, March 24, 1999. Stan was born at Justice, Manitoba on December 23, 1919, son of Isaac and Ethel Mitchell. He lived in Justice until the age of ten years, then moved to the family farm. Stanley began farming at the age of 14 years on N.E. 24-12-18. In 1942, he joined the army and was sent overseas in 1943, serving overseas for four years. Upon his return, he returned to the farm, where he farmed until 1998. He married Margaret Walton on March 21, 1942 and in earlier years enjoyed curling, fishing, golfing, then chuckwagon and harness racing with his son, Trevor. Stanley was a member of the Justice Legion and later transferred to Minnedosa Legion. He leaves to mourn: his wife of 57 years, Margaret; son Trevor (Joyce) Mitchell, two daughters; Dayle (Al) Hughson, Noreen Mitchell. There are four grandchildren; Misty (Darren) Robertson, Bruce (Tara) Mitchell, Roxanne (Jamie) Bonokoski, Peter Mitchell and step-granddaughter, Tammy (Bryant) McKay. He also leaves four great grandchildren; Ethan Mitchell, Randi Hope Bonokoski, Lindsay and Matthew Robertson. Stanley also leaves four sisters: Beatrice (Tom) Cox, Ella Miller, Gwen (Ed) Walton and Blanche (Bob) Dickenson. He was predeceased by two brothers, Gordon and Clifford and two sisters, Eileen Miller and Vera Swalwell. A graveside ceremony will be held at the Sparling Cemetery on Saturday, March 27, 1999 at 1:30 pm. Urn Bearer will be Ron Miller. Flowers are gratefully declined.
