MARCIN: Stanley William Marcin passed away suddenly on January 29, 2005 at his residence in Brandon, Manitoba. Stan was born in Kirkella, Manitoba on June 2, 1934. His family moved to Two Creeks where Stan attended grade school. A few years later the family moved to Kemnay, Manitoba. In the summer of 1963 Stan and Joan (nee Hawitt) married and set up house in Brandon. Three years later, Stan was known as daddy to their only child, Heather. Stan worked on the bridge and building crew for the Canadian Pacific Railway until he retired in 1994. One of Stan's favorite past times was sitting on the couch strumming away on his guitar. Whether it was singing old time favorites or learning new songs, he would always end with "I'll Fly Away". He would often call that his theme song. He even had granddaughter Piper singing a few bars as she strummed along with grandpa on her ukulele. What a pair! Stan also enjoyed playing cards at the Sokol Hall and the Army and Navy. He was always on the go, just ask anyone who tried to phone him. Whether it was cards, curling, the casino or country music, Stan enjoyed life, and loved socializing, especially with his closest friends. His quick wit and kind heart will live on through our memories. Stan was predeceased by his wife Joan. Stan is survived by: his daughter Heather Marcin (Peter Buckley); granddaughter Piper; brother Alec (Anne) Marcin; sisters Margaret (Cecil) Senkbeil and Marie Richardson; brother-in-law Tom (Carol) Hawitt. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. The Ceremony to Celebrate Stan's Life was held at Memories Chapel on February 3, 2005. Captain Garry Keeping of the Salvation Army Citadel officiated. Honorary Pallbearers were Alec Marcin, Tom Hawitt, Nick Lukianchuk, Cecil Senkbeil. Active pallbearers were Kevin Marcin, Patti Richardson, Trent Hawitt, Bob Senkbeil.
