Obituary

JOHNSTON: Stanley "Stan" Thomas, born May 4, 1942; beloved husband of Janet and father of Mark, passed away suddenly on June 26, 2008. His parents were Thomas Russell Johnston and mother Aileen Bernice (nee Donogh), and sister Judy. Stan grew up in Griswold, Manitoba and was raised on the family farm. Stan worked at various jobs until he joined the Brandon City Police. Stan married Jan in 1964 and they would have been married 44 years. They were blessed with their son Mark in 1976. Much of Stan's free time was spent tinkering at the old family farm, which was a source of enjoyment for him. Stan had many friends and they were all recipients of Stan's great jokes. One of Stan's nicknames was "Noah" because he had two of everything and everything was in its place. Both Jan and Stan were thrilled when Mark married his wife Liane on July 20, 2002. Granddaughters Jae (5) and Brenna (2) were the apple of his eye. The Ceremony to Celebrate Stan's Life was held at Memories Chapel, on Wednesday, July 2, 2008. Mona Franklin officiated. Friends who wish to make a donation in memory of Stan, may do so to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 3 - 824 18th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 5B7. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.

JOHNSTON
We cannot express our thanks and appreciation for all who showed their care and concern to our family. We would like to thank the ambulance drivers, emergency staff and especially Drs. Carpenter, Mohamed and Engelbrecht and the O.R. nurses for their persistence, care and compassion in his last moments. God bless you. For all those friends and family who shared their time with phone calls and visits, flowers, food and help - words cannot express our appreciation.
