Obituary

The death of Stanley Konstanty Czerkawski occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Friday, July 19, 2002. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Sunday, July 21, 2002 from 8:00 pm. to 9:00 pm. The Ceremony to Celebrate Stan's Life will be held at the Chapel on Monday, July 22, 2002 at 2:30 pm. Rev. Fr. Jerzy Urbanski of St. Joseph's Polish National Catholic Church will officiate. Private family interment service will follow at the Brandon cemetery. Donations in memory of Stan may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 230-42 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB, R7A 2B2. The death of Stanley Konstanty Czerkawski occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Friday, July 19, 2002. Stan was born at Castle Point, Manitoba on August 23, 1932,the youngest of six children born to Konstanty and Kathrine Czerkawski. He received his education at Bloomsbury School and Brandon Collegiate. His first job was driving a Taxi. Stan then began working for the C.P.R. as a fireman. He also worked at Johnnie's Texaco Service Station and then with Canada Post as a letter carrier. Stan was involved with numerous organizations. In his earlier years he enjoyed the Boy Scouts of Canada He was a charter member of the local branch of the Heritage Club and F.S.N.A. He was a member of the Heritage Train Restoration Society in Kamloops, BC. He also was involved with the Cerebral Palsy Association. Stan was a member of the Polish Sokol Association in Brandon and an active member of St. Joseph's Polish National Catholic Church in the city. Known as, "Mr. Fix-it", he was called upon many times to apply his knowledge and skills to any type of restoration. Stan was a dedicated volunteer. At the many major curling events, Canada Games and any organization or person who needed a hand, Stan was there. His latest challenge was the computer. Stan leaves his beloved wife of 48 years, Elsie, two sons, Gary (Marilee), Tom (Eileen) and daughter, Doreen (Kelly Brooks). Grandchildren; Janna, Carolyn and Paul McNeely, Tracie and Michael Czerkawski, Tianna Czerkawski and step-grandson, Matthew Brooks. He also is survived by a sister, Helen (Phil) Kozak, brother, Walter (Josephine) Czerkawski, sister-in-law, Leona (Wally) Knash, brother-in-law, Tony (Eleanor) Rock, sister-in-law Olga Rock many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Stan was predeceased by; his parents, sisters, Julie and Emilie and a brother Joe. The Ceremony to Celebrate Stan's Life was held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Monday, July 22, 2002 at 2:30 pm. Rev. Fr. Jerzy Urbanski of St. Joseph's Polish National Catholic Church officiated. Private family interment service followed at the Brandon cemetery.
