It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Shirley Ann Bruder, age 63 years, on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre.
Born June 27, 1962 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to parents Robert Bruder and Norma Wakefield, Shirley attended Strathclair Elementary School. In 1970, she moved to Brandon, Manitoba, where she attended Sacred Heart and then George Fitton School until the age of 18.
In 1980, Shirley moved into Westman Opportunities. The lifelong friends she made became family that brought joy and love into her life. That same year, she began working at COR Enterprises, where she was a dedicated and valued employee until her retirement in 2018.
Shirley was active with Special Olympics for many years, excelling in both bowling and swimming. She proudly competed at numerous provincial meets, winning multiple medals. A standout moment came in 2003 when she was awarded a trophy for her personal best in the 25-metre backstroke.
With a deep love for music, Shirley attended many concerts throughout her life. Some of her favourite artists she was able to see included Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, and The Irish Rovers. She also enjoyed a good cup of coffee shared with friends.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Norma Wakefield and Robert Bruder, and by her siblings Eva, Bonnie, Joe, Janice, Ken, and Carol.
A Graveside Service will take place at the Brandon Cemetery on Friday, August 8, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.
