DIXON: Shirley-Anne Dixon (nee Brown) passed away at home on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 71 years of age. Survived by loving husband and best friend Merv; daughter Patti; son Brad (Tanis) and her very precious and oh so special granddaughters Britney, Jensen and Kara; sister Joyce Phelps; brother Mel Brown (Lorette); brother-in-law Bill (Joyce) Dixon, Ron (Val) Dixon; sisters-in-law Lill Nelson, Doreen Dixon, Joyce (Bernie) Kehler and a very special cousin Val Moon of Las Vegas. Also surviving are special "school day" friends, Bev Webber and Lynne Elder along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Bernice in 2007. Shirley lived with ovarian cancer for the past six years and counted each day as a blessing. Dr. duPlooy and the chemo staff in Brandon were a great support and strength to her and we are ever so grateful to them. Ceremony to Celebrate Shirley's Life took place at Central United Church on Saturday, June 1, 2013. Rev. Shannon McCarthy officiated. Private interment of cremated remains was held at Rounthwaite Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Shirley may be made to Ovarian Cancer Canada, 145 Front Street East, Suite 205, Toronto, Ontario M5A 1E3 or online at www.ovariancanada.org, or to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation – "Murray House Cancer Treatment Residence" or "Brandon RHA cancer services", 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 2B3.
Afterglow
I'd like the memory of me
To be A HAPPY ONE.
I'd like to leave an afterglow
Of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo,
Whispering down the way,
Of happy times and laughing times
And bright sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve,
To dry before the sun
Of happy memories that I leave
When life is done.
