Shawn was born in Thompson, Manitoba, on April 11, 1977, and left us peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg on October 22, 2025, surrounded by family and friends.
Shawn bounced into our lives on an Easter Monday, and maybe where his need to never be early came from there as he was 2 weeks late when he was born. We realized he had a great sense of humour when he fell asleep in the car, so we thought, coming from his uncles. His Dad picked him up and carried him into his room and when he laid him on his bed he opened his eyes, smiled and said, "Thanks for the ride dad" and laughed. He might have been 3.
He went to school in Thompson graduating in 1995. When we moved to Mallard Crescent, he was a 5-minute walk to the school. However, he somehow managed to be late most mornings and at noon he was always late having to go to the office to report in. He chose to stay in Thompson after graduation and work for the summer. Then he moved to Winnipeg and worked at Mallabars for a time selling tuxedos and all things formal. He did return to Thompson for a couple years and then moved to Winnipeg in 1998 to stay. He again worked various retail jobs working at Rogers for several years then managing a new Teavana tea store in Polo Park for 5 years which provided a couple of trips to Atlanta and Seattle. When the store closed, he moved on to a management position at Michael's and then he landed a job with the federal government in the CRA offices which he quite liked, dealing with seniors through OAS and CPP. Apparently, he felt seniors provided a few new challenging questions.
He had very diverse interests from his love of movies, an eye for detail and decorating to doing perfect cross stitch at one time, going to garage sales and farmer's markets and a love of animals, especially cats.
This last year had become a little more difficult with a few more health issues creeping into his life.
He is survived by his parents, Eldon and Ronaleen, brother Jeff, his wife Stacey, nephew Ty his partner Abby, nieces Camryn and Keeley and a very special cousin, Erin, her husband Scott, their daughters Maisie, Gina and Reece, and numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by both sets of grandparents and Uncles Dale, Donald and Mervyn.
A Celebration of Shawn's life will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. Memories Chapel- 330 18th Street North, Brandon, MB.
