Obituary

HARDER: After a courageous battle with cancer for one and a half years, Sharon Ruthy Harder (nee Janzen) passed away September 15, 2007 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Sharon will be greatly missed by her husband Phil and three sons Brent, Blaine, and Darren; parents Jack and Hilda Janzen; brother Stan and sister-in-law Lynda Janzen; sister Heather and brother-in-law Ron Neufeld and niece Shaye Neufeld. Sharon was born on March 31, 1959 and grew up on a farm in the community of Elm Creek, Manitoba. She graduated from Elm Creek Collegiate in 1977, moving to Winnipeg to work as a legal secretary for Pitblado and Hoskin. She married Phil Harder of Moore Park and worked as a legal secretary for Meighen, Haddad and Co. in Brandon, Manitoba. Sharon participated in many local activities including curling, baseball, and
4-H. She was an active member of the Justice Mennonite Brethren Church. Her piano playing was a blessing to many. Throughout her life, Sharon enjoyed "hands on" farming including driving the combine and a passion for gardening. She also enjoyed traveling, sewing, needlepoint, and cooking. Sharon lived life to the fullest always putting her family first. The Ceremony to Celebrate Sharon's Life was held at McDiarmid Drive Alliance Church, on Thursday, September 20, 2007. Pastor Gerry Harms officiated. Interment was at the Sparling Cemetery. Pallbearers were Larry and Heather Fast, Dave and Doreen Froese, Les and Genene Loewen, Ben and Ellen Martens, Paul and Shelley Penner. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Sharon may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 2B3 or to a charity of choice. The family would like to thank the local communities and churches for their constant encouragement and prayer support throughout this time.
