Russel Milton Fardoe passed away at the Glenboro Hospital, Glenboro, Manitoba on Friday, August 16, 2002. Russel was born on October 4, 1929 at Benito, Manitoba, son of George and Edith Fardoe. He received his education at Alpine and Benito schools. He moved with his parents to the South Brandon District in 1947. Russel married Emma Elizabeth Nyquist of Hilltop, Manitoba at Brandon on May 23, 1953. Together, they farmed in the South Brandon District until 1970, during which time a son, Ronald and a daughter, Ronaele were born. Also in 1953, a nephew came to live with them. Russ helped raise him and he became like a son to Russ. Russ took an active part in church and community life during the years on the farm. In 1970, he moved to Brandon, where he spent the next nineteen years serving the public as a partsman for farm machine companies. Ill health forced him to retire in 1989. He enjoyed his years as a partsman and was often heard to say he had met a lot of fine people over the years. During the years in Brandon, he attended and supported Trinity United Church. During his retirement, there were many enjoyable years spent RV-ing in the prairie provinces, but mostly in the Manitoba Provincial Parks with Emma at his side. During those years, he met and made many new friends. He was predeceased by; his father and mother, sisters-in-law, Eva and Ivy Nyquist, Lillie Broomhall and Edna Magnell, and brothers-in-law, Mac Wark, Russell Birch, Herbert Magnell and Hayden Broomhall, also many uncles, aunts, and cousins. He leaves to mourn his passing; his wife Emma of forty-nine years, his son Ronald, daughter Ronaele, also Brian Broomhall and wife Carol. Russ is also survived by his brothers, Bill and Ken and their families, sisters-in-law, Anna Wark and Hilma Birch, nieces, nephews and cousins. Russ is also survived by, his daughter-in-law, Shari and husband Kent Sanderson. He was "Grandpa" to Vanessa, Reed, and Tabitha, Brandie and Leanne, Tim and Dusty and family. A private graveside ceremony will be held at the Brandon Cemetery. The Ceremony to Remember Russ will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at 1:30 pm. The Rev John Nesbitt of Trinity United Church will officiate.
