It is with great sadness that the family of Rudy Vergunst announces his passing after an accident on Sunday June 13th, 2021, at the age of 55 years.
Ruud / Rudy will forever be remembered by his loving wife and best friend Bianca Vergunst-Duijvestijn, his daughters Shirley & Ashley Vergunst, his 3 grandchildren, his brother Tinus Vergunst, and his sisters Wilma Vergunst & Jessie Krijnen-Vergunst, as well as by his large in-law family, extended family, many colleagues, friends, and neighbours.
Rudolf Johannes Vergunst was born on June 17th, 1965 in Roosendaal, the Netherlands, and was predeceased by his parents Pieter Vergunst & Wilhelmina Vergunst-van Kilsdonk, and his brother Christ Vergunst.
Rudy was a proud excavator and heavy equipment operator for over 40 years and could not imagine doing anything else in life. He also loved the occasional long-haul trucking, the fire fighting, and equipment hauling all over the Canadian provinces.
As a 15-year old boy, Rudy started working at Bakx Roosendaal, followed by Martens en van Oord Oosterhout, and at Royal Boskalis Westminster / Breijs Capelle aan den IJssel, before immigrating to Brandon, Manitoba, Canada in July of 2009.
Here, Rudy worked for Clint Moffat in Minnedosa, Westman Aerial Spraying in Douglas, and lastly many years for BlueStar Construction / Hillside Colony in Justice, MB. He was greatly appreciated and respected by his employers, colleagues, and clients for the detailed work he did, and was very precise in keeping the equipment clean and well maintained. That appreciation and respect with employers was definitely mutual.
Rudy was an amazing and caring husband who shared a wonderful marriage with his wife, and together they built the beautiful home they dreamed of near Brandon, MB. He took great pride in their parklike yard and thoroughly enjoyed mowing the lawn and keeping everything tidy. Together they traveled the world and enjoyed many long road trips through Canada and many foreign countries. Rudy will be deeply missed in all these adventures.
Rudy was a friendly and humble man, who had a great sense for right or wrong, and loved the peace and quiet in his excavator. He was well known for his coffees… as it had to be a Timmie's Dark Roast 2 cream 1 sugar or a MacDonalds double-double, either with a carrot muffin or a cookie.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Zion Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Friends For Furry Friends or any animal rescue organization of your choice.
