Obituary

WEAR: It is with sadness that the family of Ronald ??Ron?? Martin Wear announce his passing in Minto, Manitoba on Friday, January 16, 2004. Ron was born on April 18, 1969 at Souris, Manitoba; the third child of Fred and Aggie Jean Wear. Ronald received his education at Minto Elementary School and Boissevain Collegiate. He was an excellent student, graduating with honors. He enjoyed participating in the Christmas concerts, being able to still recite some of the parts he played. Ronald joined the 4-H Club taking beef and woodworking. He enjoyed public speaking through his 4-H years, making a speech every year from the age of 8 until he finished 4-H. After graduation from school in Boissevain, he joined his father and brother farming. Ronald??s love of animals would have made him a good vet. He always thought of others first and was ready to help anyone, whether they were elderly, young or somewhere in between. Ronald always found time to stop and chat with everyone. He had a great sense of humour, always making people laugh. Ronald enjoyed sports: curling ?? where he always wanted a theme for his rink in the Minto Bonspiel ??Crew 22??, bowling, golfing ?? where he could be found with his nephew, and ball with the ??Blazers??. One of his greatest joys was fixing his Dad??s old Ford for the Minto Centennial Parade. Ronald was a member of the Minto United Church, he served on the Minto Town and Country Centre board, various other committees and helped with different projects in the community. Uncle Ron always had time for his nephew and nieces. He took them at harvest time in the grain truck, teaching them how to drive, run the auger and how to be careful to not get hurt. He took them sleigh riding in the winter and always had a wiener roast for them before they started school in the fall. At the age of 12, Ronald was diagnosed with diabetes, which he accepted and always hoped a cure would be found. Ronald was predeceased by his grandparents and three uncles. He is survived by: his parents Fred and Aggie Jean Wear; brother Ritchie (Karen) Wear, children, Andrew, Christine and Shawna; sisters Linda Jean (John) Wear Paramor, children, Jeana and Renee and Marlene (Scott) Leflar; as well as aunts, uncles and numerous cousins. The Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at the Minto United Church. Rev. Irene Greenwood officiated. Pallbearers were: Sean Martin, Kelly Martin, Paul Kruk, Dallis Wray, Bryan Jackson and Donald Coupland. All in attendance were considered Honorary Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Minto Cemetery. If friends so wish, donations in Ronald??s memory may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 1101-191 Lombard Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3B 0X1.
