MOFFAT: It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Barry Moffat on Monday, January 9, 2012 at Brandon Regional Health Centre, Palliative Care. Ron was born on July 7, 1934 at Elgin, MB. He was raised on his parent's farm and received his education in Elgin. Ron was employed for a few years with Anglo Canadian Oils and in 1958 started his career as a technician at the Brandon Research Station. After retirement he joined the staff of Memories Chapel on a part-time basis. Ron was a people person and thoroughly enjoyed his time spent at Memories. He belonged to and participated in many organizations. Ron married Mary Duncan on June 7, 1958 and they had two sons, Dale and Greg. They lived in Brandon for 20 years and then moved to their farm in 1978. Ron was a farmer at heart and enjoyed every aspect of farming, especially the animals. He is survived by his wife Mary, sons; Dale and Greg, and four grandchildren he was so proud of, Samantha, Benjamin, Mackenzie and Nicholas. He is also survived by his brother Ken (Laurette) of Langley BC, sister Audrey Dennis of Winnipeg, MB, sister Bernice (Ernest) Edwards of Calgary AB and brother-in-law Stewart (Ferne) Duncan of Calgary AB. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, coffee buddies and many friends. Ron was predeceased by his parents, Herb and Mildred Moffat, brother-in-law Jack Dennis and father and mother-in-law, Lorne and Mary Duncan. A family interment was held at the Elgin Cemetery on Friday, January 13, 2012 with son Greg as urn bearer. The Ceremony to Celebrate Ron's Life followed at Central United Church with Rev. Laird Russell-Yearwood and Rev. Shannon McCarthy officiating.
