Roderick Leslie Picken

October 23, 1940 – February 23, 2026

Rod lived a life shaped by hard work, family, and a deep appreciation for the places and people who filled his years.

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Rod attended Morse Place and Miles Macdonell schools. His love for farm life was nurtured through summers spent on his relatives’ farms at Brunkild, MB.

Rod went on to build a 25‑year career with Air Canada in Winnipeg and Calgary, forming many friendships and memories. He also spent nine years delivering Western Star trucks from Kelowna, British Columbia, enjoying the scenery along the way.

Eventually, Rod and Carol returned to Manitoba. He cherished their time living at the lake and wintering in Arizona, before settling in Brandon. Rod found camaraderie as a member of the Lions Club and through his pastime curling.

Predeceased by his parents, Leslie and Ella and two sisters; Rod is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years Carol, daughter Wendy (Ray), son Robert (Cathie), five grandchildren and one great‑grandson. He also leaves behind two brothers and one sister.

Rod passed away at Hillcrest Place, Brandon, MB, at the age of 85. The family will cherish his memory privately.

Rod’s family would like to thank the staff at Hillcrest Personal Care Home for the wonderful care given to Rod over the last three and a half years, the love and support for Carol and son Rob during Rod’s final days.
