Robert Gysbert Reuser (aka Bob/Bubba/Rooster) of Brandon, Manitoba was born January 2, 1949 in Tiel, Holland quietly passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013. When he was a young boy his family (father, mother and two sisters) immigrated to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Upon his parents' divorce, one sister and his mother returned to Holland. Bob then moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba with his father. "Bubba / Rooster" (as he was known in his middle years) had a colorful life, no stranger to law enforcement and some could say unlucky in love. Bob was working in Red Lake as a caterer, which was one of his favourite jobs. He also worked in Winnipeg, Minnedosa and Brandon before totally settling down in his later years here in Brandon to be closer to friends and family. Bob was a complicated person, some would try to say negative things, but if we're honest and sincere he was a lost soul who had a rough childhood which made him the "keep to his own" type of guy, that is until he knew someone was in need. Dave recalls a time in Winnipeg, sitting in the living room listening to a police scanner when suddenly his dad bolts to the front door shouting "Come on Dave!" "Sandy's (a neighbour three doors down) house is on fire!" Bob then broke down the door and found Sandy passed out in the house, dragged him out saving him and taking off before taking credit for his heroic deed. He always kept his cards close to his heart, but truly did have a heart for others and although no stranger to the bottle, he could be the life of the party. Not having much, he'd always have an open ear for others to sound off when needed too. He enjoyed camping and fishing immensely, but his biggest joy was being a Granddad, holding onto toys left behind when his grandson left town, sneaking cash to the grandkids for treats and always having a stash of candy on hand for when they'd drop by. This was always one time we knew he was truly happy. He leaves behind three daughters; his son David Reuser (Veronica); grandchildren Rylee and Autumn-Rain Reuser and Raven and Jasmine; some good friends Jack and Jeanne, Rick, Larry and Sharon and the Nordquist family as well as others who will miss him dearly. The funeral service took place at Memories Chapel on Monday, February 11, 2013. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery.
