PHINNEY: The passing of Robert Norman Phinney, affectionately known as "Bob" or "Norm" to his family and friends, occurred Thursday, April 6, 2006 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Bob was born on May 13, 1951 in Brandon, Manitoba, the son of Milt and Sarah Phinney. He gave 40 years of skilled tradesmanship to the construction industry in Brandon. His attention to detail and creativity is shown across Brandon with each home or project he was involved with. Throughout his lifespan Bob was an avid broomball player, weight trainer and a free spirit. He cherished Friday nights with his friends and welcomed everyone to join him. On the jobsite or wherever he saw you, he always took a moment or two to stop and chat. Anyone who knew Bob, knew of his wonderful heart and generous nature. Everyone took to Bob with admiration and respect and that is shown to this day with his children's friends, who refer to him as "Dad" or "Uncle Bob". He was predeceased by: his parents, Milt and Sarah; and brother, Glenn. He is survived by: his long time companion and wife, Sandi and Bob's daughter, Christine and husband Brad and their children, Brittney, Bradley and Brooke; son, Ryan and girl friend Connie and son Bobby and wife Trisha and their son Ryder. He also leaves behind, sister, Judy Walker; brother, Larry and wife Janette, brother Jeff and wife Christine and sister-in-law, Debbie and husband Bob Slack, together with their respective families. He also leaves Sandi's daughters, Sonja and Courtney. The Ceremony to Celebrate Bob's Life will be held at Central United Church, 327-8th Street, on Thursday, April 13, 2006 at 2:00 pm. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Bob to the Brandon Regional Health Foundation, Palliative Services, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB R7A 2B3. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the nurses and volunteers, in the Palliative Care Unit at the Assiniboine Centre, who helped take some of the hurt away in a difficult situation. For that, the family thanks them for their unforgettable kindness and compassion.
