PARLEY: Robert Wyllie - It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Robert "Bob" at the Assiniboine Centre early Sunday October 31, 2004. Robert was an only child, born on March 7, 1937 to Charles & Davina Parley at County of Dumpries, Scotland. He started painting at the age of sixteen and received his papers as a journeyman painter/decorator five years later. On March 25, 1958, he married Margaret McKie and had three children from this marriage. Robert and family ran a Bed & Breakfast in New Galloway, Scotland, and was a volunteer firefighter there. In 1968, he and his family immigrated to Toronto, Canada continuing his trade as a painter, later moving to Mississauga in 1972. During this time in Ontario the family enjoyed numerous camping excursions thought out the province. The family then moved to Brandon in 1976 where his life changed and he met his present wife, Heather Dechka. Bob's love for sports was the reason he along with others helped establish Brandon Youth Soccer in the City. Robert, Heather and good friend Tom Renton formed Crafts Men Painting in 1985 where he continued to work until his health forced him to slow down. He was also a board member of the Construction Association of Rural Manitoba in which he advocated for more apprenticeship. After a 21 year engagement, Robert & Heather married on April 7, 2001. They enjoyed traveling with their dogs in the motor home every winter to southern USA and visiting various Caribbean destinations throughout the years. He also enjoyed reading and many carpentry projects. Robert was predeceased by his parents and his daughter Pamela Jane Robinson. His memory will be cherished by his beloved wife, Heather; his sons Brian, Julie (Braden & Lauren), Gordon, Cindy (Darcie & Adam); son-in-law Hugh Robinson (Nicholas & Ashley) of Tilston, MB; step-daughter Corinne Willms, Brent (Brant & Courtney) and ex spouse Margaret Parley. The Memorial Service was held at Memories Chapel on Thursday, November 4, 2004. Interment took place in the Brandon Columbarium section of the Brandon Cemetery. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Bob to the Manitoba Lung Association, 8-940 Princess Avenue, Brandon, MB R7A 0P6. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to memorieschapel@mts.net.
