HUNTER: The family of Robert "Bob" James Hunter announce with great sadness and indescribable grief the passing of their husband, father, son and brother, Bob. Bob passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 1, 2003 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. He was born in Vancouver, BC on August 6, 1948 and moved to Brandon that same year. Bob is survived by his wife Jean; daughter Lara; son Cole; mother Laura; sisters Jean (Dave) of Winnipeg, Irene (George) of Emerson and Joan of Brandon. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. Bob was a very special man who touched the hearts of everyone who came in contact with him, whether young or old. An encounter with Bob left you smiling. He had a way with words and loved to tell a story. Bob attended Earl Oxford and Neelin High School, and then attended Brandon University and the University of Manitoba where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Social Work Degree. While he was attending Brandon University he was the President of the Student Union, this experience created many friendships and long lasting memories. Bob always said "There are a million people in the world, but there is only one in mine" and in 1972 he married his true love Jean "Neen" Termaine. After completing university in 1975 he began his career as a probation officer from 1976-1978, but opted to open his own business "Burnaby Fireplaces" in 1978. After 4 years in a successful business Bob returned to the government as a probation officer. Through kindness, patience and his great sense of fairness Bob thrived as a probation officer and also accomplished countless achievements too numerous to mention. In 1984 Bob and Jean welcomed the arrival of their first born, Lara and two years later their son, Cole. The birth of Lara and Cole brought the best out in Bob and gave his life a whole new meaning. The kids allowed Bob the chance to become avidly involved in coaching Cole's hockey, Lara's dance and running and the building of the family retreat at Clear Lake. Bob was very proud of building the family cottage. It gave him a sense of freedom and togetherness with his family. He enjoyed many hobbies such as squash, tennis, golf, and marathon runs with Jean. His favorite hobby was spending time and sharing numerous stories with his family and friends. Bob was predeceased by his father Robert William Hunter in 1985.The Funeral Ceremony will be held at Central United Church, 327-8th Street, on Thursday, November 6th, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Laird Russell-Yearwood will officiate. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Bob to the Children's Wish Foundation, 350 St. Mary's Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3C 3J2. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to memorieschapel@mts.net. Arrangements are with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
Like two peas in a pod were we
Now God has come to set you free
So from this day I will hold you dear
Forever I know you will be near
We saw each other through good and bad
It makes me proud to call you Dad
You gave me strength, guidance and grace
How I long to see your smiling face
To hear you laugh and see you hold your head high
I shall turn my heart toward the sky
There you will be my father, my friend
And to you dear Dad, my love I send.
Love Lara
Forever loved and sadly missed
Jean, Lara, Cole and family.Memorials
