Robert James Duguid passed away suddenly Monday, December 18, 2000 in Brandon, Manitoba. Bob was born July 18, 1937 in Brandon. He lived all of his life in Brandon. Bob worked at Simplot Canada Limited as a Maintenance Supervisor until his retirement in 1987. He joined the Masonic Order in 1958, holding many offices through the years, becoming a life member in 1981. Bob served as Master, Peter McGregor Lodge No. 173, and was past district deputy of Grand Lodge District 7 GRM. He also held offices in concordent bodies York Rite and Scottish Rite. Bob joined the Shrine Khartum Temple in 1966. There he was instrumental in forming the Khartum Temple Brandon Pipes and Drums, while being one of the founding members. He was very proud to have been a piper in both bands. This was one of his proudest achievements. Bob will be remembered for piping at numerous events, including curling, weddings, parades and his grandson's graduation. Bob is survived by his wife, Joan, his dearest and best friend, his children Janice (Ken) Kennedy (grandchildren Gordon, Jimmy and Alison) of Okotoks, Alberta, Donna (Jim) Auten of Rigby, Idaho (grandchildren Grant (Jolene) Brown of Thompson, Manitoba, Traci Brown of Brandon) and Bobby (Mary) Duguid (grandchildren Sharmin and Amanda) of Kitimat, B.C., great granddaughter Brittany, brothers, David (Monique) Duguid of Abbotsford, B.C., Charles (Pat) Duguid of Brandon, sister, Marie Smith of Brandon, mother-in-law, Flora Groves of Brandon, brothers-in-law, Neil Groves of Minto, Manitoba, Glen Groves of Calgary, Alberta, Doug (Helen) Groves of Red Deer, Alberta and Jim (Cathy) Groves of Calgary, Alberta, numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was pre-deceased by his father, Charles in 1974, his mother, Louise in 1988 and his father-in-law Gordon Groves in 1985. The Ceremony to Celebrate Bob's Life will be held on Friday, December 22, 2000 at 2:30 p.m. at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North. Rev. Dale Woods will officiate. Interment will be at the Brandon Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.
